[[PageOutline]] = DBCLS Biohackathon 2010 = The 3rd DBCLS !BioHackathon for interpreting biological knowledge with Semantic Web technologies will be held during 2010/2/ 8-12 in Japan. * [wiki:Participants] * [wiki:Schedule] * [wiki:Symposium] * [wiki:Hackathon] * [wiki:MeetingReport] == About the Hackathon == The hackathon (hacking + marathon) basically is a camp where invited participants discuss about current issues and implement software to solve the problems on site collaboratively. This kind of meeting is very effective for the intensive development of projects, because face-to-face meeting of developers, who are usually spread around the world, accelerates communication and collaboration to exchange their ideas. !BioHackathon 2010 is sponsored by the Database Center for Life Science ([http://dbcls.rois.ac.jp/en/ DBCLS]) and the Computational Biology Research Center ([http://www.cbrc.jp/index.eng.html CBRC]). DBCLS is a national center responsible for sustainable life science databases in Japan and CBRC is a research organization for bioinformatics. * [wiki:Registration 参加登録] == Objectives == * [wiki:Queries] * Targeted queries to be resolved by Semantic Web technologies. * [wiki:Datasets] * Lists currently available and still missing datasets (as Linked Data / RDF) to resolve the above queries? * [wiki:Stores] * Develop our own or survey existing extensible storage systems for RDF triples and functional query interface. * [wiki:Tools] * Develop common APIs among Open Bio* projects for RDF stores and SPARQL endpoints. * Develop a set of programs including loaders and converters for RDF data. * Develop supporting text mining systems and end-user applications. == Venue == * [http://www.cbrc.jp/index.eng.html CBRC] (Odaiba, Tokyo) * [[http://www.cbrc.jp/eng/map.eng.html Access]] - for the 1st day (Symposium and reception) * [http://dbcls.rois.ac.jp/en/ DBCLS] (Nezu, Tokyo) * [[http://dbcls.rois.ac.jp/en/access/index.html Access]] - rest of the days (hack, hack, hack) * Annotated Google Maps and KML file for Google Earth are available: * [http://tinyurl.com/ch7ytg Google Maps for the BioHackathon 2009] * [http://hackathon2.dbcls.jp/attachment/wiki/WikiStart/biohackathon2009-locations.kmz KML file for Google Earth] * Housing * TBA == Communication == * Mailing list * biohack3 (at) kml.dbcls.jp ([http://kml.dbcls.jp/pipermail/biohack3/ Archive]) * Live streaming * http://www.ustream.tv/channel/biohackathon2010 * Official hash tag * #biohackathon2010 -- official hash tag for [http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23biohackathon2010&lang=all twitter], citeulike and so on. * Seems somewhat longer.
